4 whole pears (peeled & cored)
3 cups of red wine (or enough to cover pears)
1/2 cup of sugar
3 whole cinnamon sticks
4 whole cloves
Orange zest to taste
- In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients (except the pears) and bring to a boil.
- Reduce to medium heat.
- Place pears in liquid and cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Remove pears and chill in refrigerator overnight.
- Plate and garnish to your liking, such as chocolate sauce and whipped cream or fruit compote and powdered sugar.
